Content
Melamine-saturated decorative paper laminated to a phenolic-impregnated kraft paper core
Finish
Suede (finish code: SD) comes standard. Alternatively, choose from 26 other finish options
Construction
Manufactured in a flat press by laminating paper saturated in melamine resin with phenolic-impregnated kraft layers at high pressure and heat. Panels are trimmed to size and the backs are sanded to facilitate bonding to a substrate. Material thickness is determined by the number of kraft layers bonded together
Format
Panel / Sheet
Overall Thickness
Dependent on the HPL product type. Typical product type G48 = 0.045in. Product type F39 = 0.036in. Product type F28 = 0.028in
Edge / End
Edges should be filed smooth and oriented towards the substrate to help prevent stress cracks and to minimize chipping
Cleaning with a solution of warm water and liquid dishwashing detergent is all that should be required in most cases. Stains may be removed with most non-abrasive household cleaners such as FORMULA 409®, GLASS PLUS® or WINDEX® with AMMONIA D®. Light scrubbing with a soft bristled brush may be necessary to remove stains from the depth of the structure on some textured surfaces. If the stain persists, use a paste of baking soda and water and apply with a soft bristled brush. Stubborn stains that resist any of the above cleaning methods may require the use of undiluted household bleach. Note that prolonged exposure of the laminate surface to bleach will cause discoloration. Avoid abrasives and harsh chemicals

Applications
Designed for horizontal, vertical, or postforming applications. Ideal for use on countertops, desks and tables, vanities, interior doors, cabinets, contract furniture, casework, and retail store fixtures. Choose from three HPL grade options. Standard HPL type G48 is most often used in horizontal applications where high impact resistance and a durable, decorative surface is required. Postforming Type F39 is designed for manufacturing countertops and other horizontal surfaces where the laminate may be heated and rolled over the substrate edge to eliminate seams. Type F28 is meant for applications where impact resistance is less critical or if postforming is required
Installation
Use carbide-tipped blades and router bits for cutting purposes. Kepp feed rates slow and tool speed high. The inside corners of cutouts should have a minimum radius of 0.125in and be filed smooth. When fasteners are required, it is advisable to drill an oversized hole through the laminate first. These strategies reduce the likelihood of stress cracks. Refer to the Postforming Technical Bulletin for postforming guidance
Manufacturer Notes
Do not expose to extreme humidity, continuous sunlight, or temperatures above 275ËšF (135ËšC) for extended periods of time
Flammability
Tested to standard ASTM E84 and CAN/ULC-S102-M. Results dependent on the HPL product type, bonding substrate, and adhesive. See Technical Bulletin for additional information
Classification
May comply with US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 302-Flammability of Interior Materials, US Federal Specification L-P-508H, ISO-4586, and ANSI/NEMA LD3. See Technical Bulletin for additional information
Abrasion / Wear Resistance
Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 for wear resistance. Result of 1,000 cycles
Impact Resistance
Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 for ball impact resistance. Results varied between 40in-66in depending on product type and thickness
